Civil Rights Movement Essay ChallengeThere is a civil rights movement essay challenge that I would like to discuss today. This challenge is meant to help you become more familiar with the civil rights movement and the battles that were fought during this period of time. The first thing that I would like to discuss is how many students are familiar with the Civil Rights Movement and why they are not.The reason why there are so few students that are familiar with the civil rights movement is because the events that were happening during this time period didn't end with the completion of one year. Instead, it took over a decade for the entire movement to be completed. Students that are not familiar with this history are probably not familiar with the arguments that were used at the time.You may have read about how young black students challenged their school systems. For instance, a young student in Atlanta challenged his school system to integrate and the school board changed their pol icy to do just that. In other words, these events didn't occur for just one year, rather they lasted ten years or more!The argument for integration was brought to the forefront as the civil rights movement began. However, it was debated because there were people who said that separate was equal and thus, that all white people should be segregated in certain areas. In other words, those in the segregationist views would have had black people segregated from white people.In some schools, students were allowed to have white children as friends and vice versa. Additionally, the law made sure that black people did not get preferential treatment over white people in court cases. This was done because some people believed that black people were less intelligent than white people.While there were white students who had white friends, these schools did not allow them to have black friends. This can be seen as segregation, but not as segregation is being applied to different races in the Unit ed States. A civil rights essay challenge that I would like to look at is, 'What was the result of the civil rights movement?'The civil rights movement ended with the ratification of the 14th amendment in 1868. It was after this point that racial segregation laws in the United States were lifted. This amendment states that all states and areas in the United States are equal and all citizens are equal under the law.The civil rights movement accomplished many things, including having the word 'Negro' removed from the U.S. flag. They also established that all Americans should be treated equally under the law. That means that black people should be treated as equal to white people, Hispanic people, etc.
